Frederick Bethke

Frederick Charles Bethke was born October 3, 1894 on a farm in Rossville, Baltimore, Maryland, to parents Robert and Agnes.

Frederick married Lillian E Carroll on July 28, 1928 in Alexandria, Virginia when he was 32 years old and Lillian was 25. Lillian was born in Baltimore and her parents were George and Margaret Miller.

April 14, 1940 census listed Frederick (age 43) and Lillian (age 36) as living in Dundalk. Frederick’s occupation was a painter at a steel mill. He owned his home and the value was $3000. Lillian was born in Maryland and so were her parents. They had three children: Louise V (age 9), Frederick (age 6) and Margaret E. (age 3).

The 1950 census shows Frederick and Lillian living on Dunbar Road in Baltimore. Frederick is age 54 and Lillian is age 46. They have a son, Fred Carroll “Bud” Bethke., 15 years old, and a daughter, Margaret E,, 13 years old. Frederick’s job is house painter for a private company, and he worked 40 hours in the past week. Fred is listed as ‘looking for work’.

“Bud” Bethke passed away in 2019 in Bel Air, Harford County, Maryland. He had married Carole Sue Ross.
